Courts 1-3 will be overlaid with new aggregate starting on 16th July 2018 at no cost to MLTC. This is because of crumbling aggregate (called fretting) and many members have noticed and commented on the surface of these courts breaking up/stone loss in places. The fretting problem is due to the fact that aggregate is a mined natural stone and some batches of stone break-up. Fretting has occurred at other tennis clubs and is being monitored by the LTA. They will be available for play again in August, exact date depending on weather! These dates coincide with the relatively low court usage that occurs during the main holiday season.
Oaken Grove courts are being relaid in the w/c 18th August 2017. Repainting of this new surface will take place in early October and the courts should be playable from 6th October, but is obviously subject to weather.
